Author E. Keith Howick was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in political science and Juris Doctor in law. He also taught and did PhD studies at Pennsylvania State University. Keith has taught religion classes on all levels: in his ward, in seminary, in institute classes at the University of Utah and Montana State University and in the religion department at the Brigham Young University. He has also taught courses in American political government and conducted graduate seminars in public law at Pennsylvania State University. (Oct 2, 2004) Similar to his other books, E. Keith Howick provides a very in depth and enlightening look at the teachings of the Savior in the New Testiment in his book "The Sermons of Jesus the Messiah". Howick's analysis of each teaching moment of the Savior is comprehensive in details of all the surrounding factors. He makes one feel as though he could have been present at every sermon. "The Sermons of Jesus the Messiah" is broken into eight parts with 14 chapters. In a very logical and organized manner he groups together situations and events in which the Savior expounds and teaches his disciples and anyone else who would hear him. Howick quotes verbatim from the New Testament each reference then adds additional information from other books of scripture. From sermons about baptism and the widows mite, to the many questions thrown him by His enemies and final instructions to his disciples, Jesus capitalized upon every opportunity to enlighten and teach those who would listen. Through his vast studies and research E. Keith Howick expounds upon each point with rich insight without adding or taking away from the purity of the Savior's teachings. The sermons that Jesus delivered while on the earth are as much applicable today as they ever were. Our challenge is to learn of them, study them and then apply them. This book, "The Sermons of Jesus the Messiah", can definitely assist in that process. |
