Author E. Keith Howick was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in political science and Juris Doctor in law. He also taught and did PhD studies at Pennsylvania State University. Keith has taught religion classes on all levels: in his ward, in seminary, in institute classes at the University of Utah and Montana State University and in the religion department at the Brigham Young University. He has also taught courses in American political government and conducted graduate seminars in public law at Pennsylvania State University. (Aug 14, 2004) I have always had difficulty understanding Revelations and the signs of the Lord's coming but now with Brother E. Keith Howick's book, The Second Coming of Jesus the Messiah, I feel like my eyes of understanding have been opened. The way that he has brought together the scriptures from ancient and modern prophets is remarkable. He starts each topic in the book with a direct quote of the applicable scriptures and then in layman's terms explains the meaning of those references with a broad range of additional historic resources. The book is separated into 5 parts beginning at 33 AD and moves chronologically to the final judgment. Through this process he effectively carries the reader through time and explains how each piece fits into the overall picture. I really appreciate the way Bro. Howick so clearly lists his sources and references should one be interested in further study on this vital subject. Even though many things about the events leading up to the Messiah's second coming may sound unpleasant, it's comforting to feel more ready to recognize the prophesied signs and it strenghtens my desire to be increasingly diligent in my preparation to face the challenges that will come. It is also reassuring to know that we will be protected in some manner from the turmoil if we are prepared. Brother Howick makes clear that the time before the Savior's return will be extremely difficult to witness and experience but through faith, patience, and hard work those who have stayed the course and are sufficiently prepared will be participants in His triumphant return and partakers of all the glorious blessings He promised. (May 18, 2005) Beyond the hype, hypocrisy, and hogwash laid upon the Christian Book of Revelations, Howick delivers a scholarly and in-depth analysis, drawing many practical theories and conclusions for the most myste-rious and misrepresented prophecy of our time.
